Services and Procedures

The earliest recorded hair transplants date back to the early 1930’s and were conducted in Asia.  By the early 1950’s hair transplants were being performed in Europe and North America. However, much of this early work consisted of the easily detectable “punch” and plug” methods.  Although, transplanted hair did grow as a result of these procedures, the resulting aesthetics were crude and visually unappealing.  When plastic surgeons began to perform hair transplants, more empahasis was placed on aesthetic results and thus the evolution of “mico grafts” and “follicular units.”

Dr. Mandraccia and his experienced surgical team integrate exceptional skill, precision and the highest level of individual artistic results for each patient.

Since follicular unit integration utilizes microscopic incisions, only minimal disturbance occurs with the epidermis and dermis (the two top layers of skin).  The use of follicular unit integration allows for the use of non-tufted linear incisions for recipient sites of the grafts, thereby eliminated unsightly scaring.  Since each unit is individually hand cut, Dr. Mandraccia is able to create natural occurring natural angles and directions which create individual hair patterns for each patient.
